Formaspace Contract’s showroom at the 2023 NeoCon exposition in Chicago was very well received.
Some of the positive comments we received from visiting sales reps and guests include:
Having the laboratory furniture on one side and the contract furniture on the other made it very easy for clients to understand the two sides of Formaspace’s business.
The dedicated lab setup was my favorite. Great way to showcase new products in a real setting.
I didn’t see lab furniture anywhere else at NeoCon, which helps Formaspace shine!
Our clients really liked seeing our lab capabilities! Great idea!!
The showroom was beautiful, and everyone loved seeing the lab setup.
<< Blush >> Thanks, everyone, for the high praise! We really appreciate it.
For those who could not attend in person, we’d like to give you a personalized guided tour of the showroom.

We captured the entire showroom in an interactive walkthrough so you can see for yourself all the exciting new product announcements on display.
We’ll step through each of the product announcements in the sections below.
Formaspace Life Science Solutions on Display at the Formaspace Contract 2023 NeoCon Showroom.
Our showroom was divided into two halves to highlight the two different sides of the Formaspace business, laboratory furniture and contract furniture.
We’ll look at the laboratory section first.
To get started, click on the virtual tour to see the lab furniture on the right-hand side of the showroom.
For the first time, Formaspace created a mock biotech startup installation (called Formaspace Life Sciences) to help showroom visitors get a hands-on tour of our three key laboratory furniture lines, the new all RGX line, our traditional casework goods, and our popular FLX modular workbenches.
RGX – Introducing the new, innovative RGX Modular Casework Line
Formaspace Contract is proud to introduce a new concept in casework design, which we are calling RGX Modular Casework.
This is a breakthrough solution that combines the best features of laboratory casework goods (such as the prized “traditional look” of casework installations) combining it with the best of modular construction (known for its flexibility, including ease of installation and ability to change configuration layouts in the future).
That’s worth repeating.
With RGX, we’ve taken the best features of traditional casework goods and made them even better.
Unlike traditional casework, which is very difficult to change after installation, the innovative new RGX Modular Casework line is built from modular components that give it unprecedented flexibility for reconfiguring facility layouts as your needs change. Each core section of RGX is installed as an individual unit, and you can combine as many units as you need for the space. Each unit is fitted on the floorplate with levelers, and there is a convenient gap in the back which allows for easy utility connections to the wall. To complete the installation, a full-length worktop is mounted that spans the units, as well as side panels (for units with exterior facing sides), and then it’s finished off with a kick panel underneath. If your configuration ever needs to change, additional RGX units can be added or swapped out or even quickly dissembled for relocation to another area.
Now you can specify casework solutions – so popular with many traditional clients – with confidence – without sacrificing the ability to make changes in the future. And you’ll benefit from lower costs and quicker lead times as well, compared to traditional casework. (Another advantage is tax depreciation – casework depreciates over a slower 39-year schedule compared to the more rapid 7-year schedule for RGX. Of course, you should consult with your tax advisor for tax advice.)
You’ll agree RGX is the new way to “future-proof” your laboratory installations.
Casework – If you Prefer Traditional Fixed Casework Solutions, Formaspace has you Covered
The next stop in our NeoCon showroom tour is a large, L-shaped traditional fixed casework installation covering two back walls in the right rear corner. (This is stop #3 in the walkthrough interface.)
Formaspace offers a broad range of traditional fixed casework solutions, custom-built to meet your exact requirements – all manufactured at our factory headquarters in Austin, Texas.
This installation is built from heavy-duty steel with a protective powder-coat surface. There is one wet sink with a convenient overhead drying rack for glassware, a stepped-down desk area for writing or researching while seated, and ample storage under the countertops as well as floating overhead cabinetry.
Award-Winning FLX Line of Modular Laboratory Furniture from Formaspace
The third stop on our tour of the NeoCon showroom is in the center of the laboratory section, where a back-to-back, free-standing FLX workbench installation is on display in the center zone, as well as a second front-facing FLX workbench installation on the opposite wall. (This is stop #3 in the walkthrough interface)
During NeoCon 2023, FLX won a prestigious award from Metropolis magazine, which awarded it their “2023 MetropolisLikes” prize.
What makes FLX so important for so many laboratory managers?
The answer is that Formaspace FLX can help you meet some of the most frustrating (and common) laboratory layout challenges.
Number one is Formaspace FLX’s ability to easily add new workbenches to your existing layout – thanks to FLX’s thoughtful design details that help simplify the installation process.
For example, FLX is designed for either using utilities that drop from the ceiling or up from the floor. Either way, routing new wires is a breeze thanks to the built-in FLX wire management troughs; the same goes for adding new services, such as plumbing lines.
FLX is also practical. You can order a single workstation with rugged welded steel frames, and then, if you like, you can specify a matching back-to-back workstation that shares the same strong spine frame. Order more units at any time to create additional capacity in your lab. Each unit can also be height-adjusted to meet your lab team member’s individual ergonomic needs.
Delivery and installation are also simplified with FLX. The product is shipped from our Austin factory headquarters directly to your facility in knocked-down form, allowing it to be shipped quickly and more economically, thanks to flat-pack packaging. It can then be assembled quickly on site using simple hand tools.
Meet the new Collection of Formaspace Contract Furniture Products for Enhanced Collaboration and Communication
Now, let’s move to the other half of the Formaspace showroom at the 2023 NeoCon exposition, which is dedicated to presenting our latest contract furniture solutions – designed to encourage greater collaboration and communication in the office or the laboratory.
Custom Conference Table – A New Look for Collaborative Meetings
Our next stop is the new oval Custom Conference Table. This striking piece features a white phenolic top mounted on a unique design of four curvilinear laser-cut steel plate legs in a powder-coated black finish. (This is stop #8 in the walkthrough interface.)
T-Leg Height-Adjustable Desking System is Designed for Good Ergonomics
Our next stop in the contract furniture section of the 2023 NeoCon showroom features a back-to-back configuration of our new T-Leg Height-Adjustable Desking system. (This is stop #6 in the walkthrough interface.)
These desks are fitted out with the magnificent Wilsonart traceless charcoal velvet worksurfaces over a Baltic birch core. This unique traceless surface hides fingerprints and smudges and is very pleasant to the touch.
As a custom manufacturer, Formaspace Contract can customize your order in countless ways. At the showroom, we presented a sage green steel divider/modesty panel on one side and a felt pin-up board on the other. We also highlighted our capability to laser etch logos or other designs directly into the steel panels, an ideal way to reinforce your brand messaging.
Collaboration Pod offers a Private Space to Work and Collaborate
Our next stop is the Formaspace Contract Collaboration Pod. (This is stop #10 in the walkthrough interface.)
Need a comfortable and private place to work or collaborate with your colleagues?
No matter the setting, whether it’s a hotel lobby, co-working space, or traditional office, we are all looking for a quiet place to work together and share ideas.
The Formaspace Contract Collaboration Pod is the solution.
The new Collaboration Pod accommodates up to four people and features an overhead truss lighting system, a laser-cut steel exterior shell in a white powder-coated finish, with a satin nickel interior frame fitted out with attractive needle punch wool felt upholstery.
As with all Formaspace furniture solutions, this item is highly customizable, including the option to add an enclosed ceiling.
Painted Glass Fixed Height Desk – a Favorite Used by the Formaspace CEO
Facing the Collaboration Pod are two of our new Painted Glass Fixed Height Desks, positioned in a L-shaped layout. (This is stop #9 in the walkthrough interface.)
These desks are constructed with high-quality 3/8” tempered glass and are mounted on powder-coated steel legs, which can be color-matched to your décor.
By painting the backside of the glass, we can offer a wider range of colors (including greater opacity for increased privacy) compared to traditional tinted glass.
In addition, we can provide a variety of modesty and privacy panel options, just speak to the Formaspace Contract team to learn more.
Mobile Pedestal – a Flexible Option for Handy Storage and Casual Seating
The next stop on our tour brings us to the Mobile Pedestal, finished in sage green with black frame accents and drawer pulls. (This is stop #11 in the walkthrough interface.)
Formaspace Contract’s new Mobile Pedestal offers the practicality of handy storage with the utility of casual seating, thanks to its felt pad seat top.
The Mobile Pedestal is mounted on extra-strong casters, and it’s constructed of durable steel and phenolic resin.
You can easily customize your Mobile Pedestal order with different finishes and top materials; you can even specify different drawer heights. Talk to the Formaspace Contract team to find out more.
Introducing the new Formaspace Contract Planter
The next to last stop at the NeoCon 2023 showroom is the new Formaspace Contract Planter. (This is stop #1 in the walkthrough interface.)
The new Formaspace Contract Planter allows you to add a biophilic design element to your indoor or outdoor environment.
This powder-coated all-steel planter can be ordered in a variety of sizes and can be customized with several options, including LED base lighting underneath as well as heavy-duty casters to move your plants as the seasons change. The inside has a separate plastic liner to keep the plants moist and avoid spills.
And you can use it for more than just plants; our larger Planters can also accommodate a range of items, including Yeti coolers for convenient dispensing of drinks and snacks on the office patio or in casual meeting rooms.
New Fixed Glass Demising Panels allow you to Retain Interior Light when Delineating Different Activity Zones in your Space
The final stop on our NeoCon 2023 showroom tour takes us to the new Formaspace Contract Fixed Glass Demising Panels. (This is stop #12 in the walkthrough interface.)
These full-height fixed glass demising panels allow you to separate different activity or work zones without compromising interior light.
Like all our Formaspace furniture, these glass panels are fabricated in our Austin, Texas, factory headquarters. The strong 3/8 inch tempered glass is mounted to floor-to-ceiling steel frames.
These panels also offer opportunities to incorporate your brand identity directly on the glass, either through decals and appliques, custom paint treatments, or glass frosting and etching treatments.
