On the first screen, you’ll be asked what kind of business furniture you are interested in — and the quantity.

There are four categories: Laboratory Workbench, Industrial Workbench, Computer Workstation and Fully Custom Design furniture.

If you’re interested in getting a quote on our standard line of laboratory furniture, industrial workbenches and computer workstations, click the appropriate option and then choose the “Next” button at the bottom of the screen. 

If you choose one of the first three categories, you’ll specify step-by-step the materials, colors and features for your furniture as described in the steps below.

Select work surface dimensions for your Laboratory Furniture, Industrial Workbench or Computer Workstation

Next you’ll provide us with your preferred width of the work surface. Our standard widths are 60, 72 and 84 inches. If you want something different, you can also specify a custom width at this point.

Now you can tell us how high you want the work surface to be (as measured from the floor).  Most clients prefer a height that is 24, 30, or 36 inches high, but you can also specify your preferred custom height.

Choose optional Sit-to-Stand Furniture Configuration

Pay attention to the green toggle switch at the lower left corner. This is where you can request height adjustable furniture.

This increasingly popular option (commonly known as ‘sit-to-stand’ furniture) allows you to alternate between sitting and standing during the work day.

If you choose the adjustable height option, you’ll need to specify the lowest height of the work surface (as measured from the floor); the two options are 30 or 36 inches.

Next, you’ll choose which kind of adjustment mechanism to install in the furniture. Your choices are Electric-Control Hydraulics, Manual Crank Hydraulics and Adjustable Legs.

Finally, you will need to pick the travel range for the height adjustment feature, either 6 or 12 inches.

Select the frame color for your new business furniture.

Formaspace builds frames out of heavy-duty American-made steel. These frames are protected by a process called ‘powder coating’ that is applied here at our factory in Austin, Texas. You can choose from the following factory color and surface treatment options:

The Eco-gray color is not only the most economical choice, it’s very eye-catching, with speckles of bright colors mixed within the base neutral color. It’s also the environmentally friendly so if you are interested in sustainability (and possible LEED credits) this might be a good choice.

You can also choose Custom Color to match your company’s brand identity, your existing furniture color, design elements found in your office space or even your alma mater’s university colors.

Will you need to move your furniture around your facility once it’s assembled?

At this stage, you can specify if you want the new furniture to be stationary or if you want it to be mobile.

Mobile furniture (with casters attached to the support legs) is an increasingly popular option. Our clients appreciate the flexibility that mobile furniture offers.

If you choose the mobile option, you’ll be presented with your choice of “total lock casters” or “leveling casters”.

Storage is a big consideration when adding new business furniture to your office, laboratory or industrial facility.

First, we will ask you about shelving. (Later we’ll ask about your preferences adding for cabinets, storage cubbies, drawers and bin rails.)

There are two kinds of upper shelves that you can order at this stage: a standard upper shelf, or an angled upper shelf. Upper shelves are offered in the following sizes: 12, 15, or 18 inches.

You can also order a lower shelf as well. These come in 12, 15 or full depth sizes.

Specify your lighting environment.

The proper amount of lighting enhances your work productivity. We offer different options for illuminating your new workstation.

The first option is an overhead LED light.

The second option is an LED light that is mounted underneath the shelf (if you selected to include an upper shelf).

Finally, we also offer a magnifying task lamp, which is recommended for highly-detailed work, like electronics manufacturing or IT Lab tasks.


Customize your shelving with storage enclosures.

Now is the time to customize your shelves with cabinet doors, storage cubbies, pull out drawers and more.

If you select yes at this stage, you’ll be presented with these storage options:

You will also be asked if you want the storage component(s) made out of steel or low-pressure laminate (melamine).


Tailor your business furniture to fit your task.

We’re on the second to last step already: customizing your furniture with additional accessories.

Most of our clients take advantage of our accessories that make your workspace more organized and efficient.

The options include monitor arms to support computer monitors, built-in power strips and cable management systems to organize your electric wires and cables, keyboard trays to hide the keyboard when not in use, as well as a bracket to support your computer CPU case and keep it off the floor.
