The year 2020 is shaping up to be another great one for Formaspace. As part of Formaspace’s continued growth, we’d like to introduce some new faces to our team. Find out who’s joined the company in recent months.
There’s a lot going on at Formaspace this year. We will be increasing our reach into the A&D market with our new Formaspace Contract Furniture brand. (Look for this exciting new brand to roll out in phases over the coming months.) And Formaspace continues its rapid growth – we anticipate that the company will see strong double-digit percentage growth this year.
Along with growth comes some new faces, job changes, and promotions!
First, we’d like to introduce you to some of the new Formaspace team members.
Keith Moynihan
Chief Financial Officer
We’d like to welcome our new Chief Financial Officer, Keith Moynihan, to the Formaspace Team. Keith lives north of our Austin factory headquarters — up in Georgetown, Texas where he has “a literal farm” of two horses, a flock of fifteen chickens, four dogs (including the adorable puppy shown below), and several kids — one’s a goat, and the others are his three children.
Keith also takes advantage of the active Austin lifestyle: he ran a 2 hour 39 marathon in his younger days and still enjoys running and other outdoor activities. We also asked Keith to paint a picture of what we can expect from Formaspace in the coming year. Keith says, “after being here only three months, I’m excited to see that Formaspace has so many large orders coming in, including new orders from major public companies – this shows that we can successfully compete in a very large market and that we’re on our way to becoming a well-known name in the furniture industry. I’m also extremely encouraged by the budget we’ve rolled up for 2020 – it keeps us on track for continued solid growth and profitability.”
Be sure to read our upcoming, in-depth interview with Keith to learn more about his business background and finance philosophy – plus Keith’s predictions for the future of the furniture industry. Stay tuned!
Michele Walty, PHR, SHRM-CP, Mediator
HR Manager
Our new Human Resources Manager, Michele Walty, is all about family values. “I was taught by my grandmother to be a Country Club wife, and I can plan an awesome dinner party for eight,” she says with a wink. We wanted to know how does that translate into creating a good working environment? Michele explains that “I’m truly interested in creating a workplace where employees enjoy coming into work every day. Fortunately, our Formaspace leadership team is open to trying new ideas – even some ‘outside the box’ things — to create a more employee-focused and inclusive work environment. And the best news of all is our amazing group of people – we call them the FormaCrew – who work really well together and help Formaspace continue its rapid growth rate.” Finally, we couldn’t resist asking Michele about her favorite piece of furniture. “I thought you’d never ask! It’s the famous pink couch in my office — I get the biggest kick when someone sits on it for the first time – because they can’t decide whether to lie down on it or just pet the upholstery!”
Welcome aboard Michele!
Jason Hsu
Purchasing Manager
Here at Formaspace, we talk a lot about ways to make your business more efficient and productive, from improved material handling solutions to more efficient supply chain operations. That’s right up the alley for our new Purchasing Manager, Jason Hsu, who brings over 13 years of experience in strategic sourcing and supply chain management. Jason is working to make our supply base more efficient with an emphasis on continuity of supply, cost optimization, and quality. He’s also impressed with the friendly family environment at Formaspace, and appreciates the company’s innovative design mindset that tailors unique solutions for each customer — the bespoke NETworking Ping Pong conference table is his favorite. Outside of work, Jason enjoys cooking and baking for family and friends. And he wins our award for the cutest photo to boot!
Chris Smith
Senior Design Consultant, Western Territory
Our newest Senior Design Consultant for the Western US is Chris Smith — and if there’s one thing you need to know about Chris, it’s that he likes to go fast! His passion outside of work is driving race cars. “I love auto racing and have driven a NASCAR at the Texas Motor Speedway and a Porsche at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).” Chris is also a true people person. “I believe one of my best qualities is the ability to identify with many different types of people and the ability to communicate well with them.”
In his role as Senior Design Consultant, Chris is working to increase Formaspace’s visibility as a major vendor in the laboratory market as well as expand the company’s presence in the office furniture business. Chris is also a fan of the Formaspace work environment; “The atmosphere and people here are great,” he says. “I also just love the adaptability of everything we make. I think the products we offer — and the way we can customize them quickly to suit various client needs — is the key to Formaspace’s future.”
Welcome aboard Chris, and we can’t help but say, “Go Speed Racer Go!” 🙂
Megan Clark
Senior Design Support Specialist
We’d also like to announce a promotion: Megan Clark has taken on the role as our newest Senior Design Support Specialist. Here at Formaspace, Megan works directly with clients to help them figure out exactly what they need to best fit their space. She freely admits, “I am a productivity geek, and use lots of tools and strategies to make sure I’m always working smarter. I also have a sharp eye for detail, which helps me ensure that the client is getting exactly what they need and want.” Her favorite furniture is “anything that is powder-coated blue – especially sapphire blue! I love it!” Outside of work, Megan also likes to get out and enjoy what Austin has to offer. “I’m learning how to mountain bike! It’s equal parts terrifying and fun – and a great workout, too.”
Connor Matthews
Junior Design Support Specialist
Where will you find our newest Junior Design Support Specialist, Connor Matthews? When he’s not helping support clients in our Midwest territory, you’ll find Connor enjoying Austin’s active outdoor lifestyle by playing with his dogs or taking part in a competitive round of disc golf. “I have to admit, sometimes I like dogs more than people!” confides Connor. At work, Connor is very sociable and enjoys talking to customers — as well as making sure each job is carried through to successful project completion. And he’s a big fan of custom Formaspace furniture too: “The guitar pick table that Brett Gray (Industrial Design Team Lead at Formaspace) designed was amazing, and I’m happy to know we have such a capable design team!”
Katrina Moreno
Junior Design Support Specialist
We’d like to introduce Katrina “Kat” Moreno, our new Junior Design Support Specialist. We’re going to tease Kat here for a moment (we assure you she won’t mind), but you may be surprised to learn she’s an Ailurophile with Heterochromia. Before you start searching in Google, that means A) she loves cats — “My name is Kat and I love cats. The picture above is my one and only child, Ms. Kitty!” — and B) Kat has exceptionally striking eyes, one is brown and one is green!
Here at Formaspace, Kat has been instrumental in building a strong community at work (under the new FormaCrew brand for Formaspace employees) as well as developing deeper relationships with clients, with a focus on providing excellent support and expertise, especially on custom projects. Her most memorable project so far? “Definitely this custom furniture we built for an electronics company’s assembly line — the roller ball conveyor has hidden rubber stoppers — they get activated by compressed air when it’s time to stop a box at a station. So cool! That’s just one example of the endless possibilities Formaspace can create for our customers.”
John Brown
Maintenance Technician
You’re most likely to meet John Brown on the twisty roads in the Hill Country outside Austin, where he likes to ride his BMW motorcycle. You might also run into John if you frequent some of Austin’s craft beer breweries (he’s a big fan of local brews). Here at Formaspace’s factory headquarters, John helps keep our production lines humming. With more than 20 years of experience as an auto mechanic and 20 more years experience in pharmaceutical and food packaging, John knows how important it is to stay on top of all the preventative maintenance work. “All the people have been great, and I’m excited to be part of a growing company!”
Adam Vineyard
Production Painter
It’s raining dogs and cats at Formaspace. How so? Turns out, we have another obsessed dog lover on board, our new production employee, Adam Vineyard, who admits he’s “just crazy about beagles!” And fortunately, the active Austin lifestyle offers plenty of opportunities for Adam to get out and run the dogs around our area’s many walking trails, lakes, and swimming holes. On the job, Adam is a real go-getter. “I’m a fast learner; I like to pay attention to details; I’m always staying busy by finding things that need to be done; I really like to learn new things; and, most importantly, I can lift heavy objects!” On the production line, Adam is a jack-of-all-trades: he’s a forklift operator, materials handler, and maintenance worker. He also works hard to keep the Komo CNC machine running smoothly and the shop floor clean and tidy. What’s his favorite piece of Formaspace furniture? Adam responds wryly, “I love anything we make that’s lightweight!” With his good sense humor and “can-do” attitude, we’re very happy to welcome Adam to the FormaCrew family here at Formaspace.
More Promotions and Job Changes
We’d also like to give a shout out to several people who received job promotions or took on new positions within the company recently, including:
- Claudio Garcia, our new Assembly Team Lead
- Karen Januski, our new Contract Team Lead
- Jeff McGlew, who is moving to Production Supervisor
- Kristina Olvera, who is moving to Master Scheduler
